I agree that gearing is your best option, 4.88 is fine with 35's. However a turbo IS a viable option that some disregard without reading up on it. You can run a turbo with 5-7lb of boost without touching the lower end. The 2.5L will hold up fine to it. There is a bit involved but it can be done without breaking the bank.
