Default Fuel pump question and problem

I have a 88 YJ with a Chevy 350 TBI in it. I had been running a Carter fuel pump designed for fuel injection and it has only lasted about a year and a half now. My question is to the guys running TBI in your Jeeps, what kind of fuel pump are you running and how has it held up.

I have only run them onroad... But ran with filters before and after them...
If I upgrade to V-8 I will run 2 before and one after... System One has a pre filter / filter set up that I like... But would have to say trash is killing the pump you have so would look that way...
Only and idea...

I have filters in front and behind the pump also and they were clean. I even made sure to mount the pump as low as possible and to the back of the Jeep, so it is pushing not pulling. Does anyone know if a 92-95 sending unit will fit in a 87-91 tank. I don't know if that is a option or not. I can see the wife start to get alittle ticked if I start buying fuel pumps about every 18 months. Thanks for the input guys, it all helps.

what PSI is that pump pushing?, GM TBI's only run 9-13 PSI if your pump is trying to feed it more than it can handle, that might be a cause.

it also could be you just got a bad pump

I remember orderly a fuel pump for fuel injection. I don't remember the psi they said it was. Maybe it just was enough or alittle to much pressure and burned it up. I will have to get on Jegs and look up my old pump to see what the psi was. I never had problems then went out one morning and it was out. Just barely enough fuel pressure to start the engine. I might go with another kind if that was to low or to high. Keep coming with the help, lord knows I need it.

well too low of fuel preasure wouldn't have hurt the pump, just engine performance.

You are right, after I posted that I realized what I said about low pressure. I guess running all the different reasons why the pump could go out, my brain is just running crazy. Between here and the other people I have talked to, it's starting to sound like just a bad pump. I just hate dumping another 100.00 if it is something I'm doing wrong. Once again thanks for the input 98XJeep. I am going to take your advise and double check the old pumps psi before I buy another one.

That is what everyone seems to be saying. I'm not going with doing that again.
