What's going to protect your rig from vandals? Aside from tying a pitbull to it every time you leave it someplace?
Nothing's going to protect your vehicle from everything. Nothing. My concern is someone climbing into it, starting it up (hotwire, ground down key, whatever) and heading for the border, and I think this set up is one of the best deterrents to that I've considered. (This other forum I belonged to in SoCal had members posting every week with stories about their rigs being stolen from parking lots, schools, even their own driveways.) If they're going to bring a flatbed tow truck then have at it (I don't usually park mine where they could do that inconspicuously, anyway).
