I know this is probably something that is hit on every couple days but I am tired of my '88 Wrangler's poor performance. The 2nd gear synch gear is shot (it grinds in the winter). The tranny also pops out of reverse if you don't crank backwards on the shifter. The engine has 130k miles on it. I am thinking this may be a good time to do an overhaul. I used to have a CJ5 with a V8 in it and I kinf miss the power. What does everyone recommend? I am leaning towards a Chevy 350 with a TH350 tranny. Is there a cookie-cutter recipe for dropping in a 350 into and '88 Wrangler?

At least it was only your 2nd gear syncro, almost all of mine are shot, and when I go above 30 Mph and stop I cant get my jeep into 1st easily.
I dont know much about a 350 swap except that it is a very common swap, IMO I think it would require alot of work.

Check out advance adapters and novak adapters, they have everything for a 350 swap.

What about sources for wiring and vac hookups? I have never done a swap before and need all the help I can get.
