Default How do I find out if recall has been done

My 87 has a plastic fuel tank so according to the NHTSA webite it should have been recalled to have the fuel sending unit gasket replaced. Is there anyway I can find out if this was done? & if it wasn't do Dc still have to do it for free?

I ask because I've noticed a smell of gas at the rear of the vehicle & I'm not sure where it's coming from (not the cap - checked that).

Cheers

G

Goto this website and just put in the last 8 characters of your vehicles V.I.N.

I went to my local Jeep dealer and he ran the vin number and found what recalls had been done. There was also a recall on the parking brake assy that he replaced. Also found on certain models there was a recall on the cat converters.

call up any jeep, eagle, chrysler, dodge dealership with a service center, give them your vin and they will be MORE then happy to fix it all for you b.c they know they get to overcharge the factory for the repairs, etc cause its a recall item

I just had my 92 YJ sending gasket replaced about 6 weeks ago through the manufacturer recall. I also discovered that the seal had already been replaced once before. The service department indicated that it does not matter if it was replaced before....if it was needing replacement again then it would still be covered under the recall at no charge.

Cool, I could do with someone other than me trying to get out those rusted up bolts to make it easier to replace the skid pan in the future.

Whoever put that link up, thanks. I hadn't thought to check on mine and now find out that there are 2 recalls I need to get done. Appreciate the kick in the pants!
