Default Clean Your Jeep

It seem like a fair number of people have been asking questions about what to use to keep there Jeep clean and shiny.

Here is what I do:
Plexus or Meguieras plastic cleaner/wax for the soft top windows
Self serve wash for the outside.
I just scrubbed out a summers worth of dust from the inside and am about to put the carpet back in.
The carpet hits the washer at the laundromat once a year.
Armor All on the dash, but not on the tires. Armor All makes it eaiser for rocks to cut the side walls of my spendy tires.
Wax the outside in the fall and spring with Meguieras wax

I’m truly not that anal with the looks of my Jeep, it needs a paint job rather bad, so looks are a low priority for me. What about everybody else do for there Jeep?

Spray paint! did most my jeep so its GTG, then just hose and sponge for cleaning. My windows are bad but i don't care. Carpet get's vaccumed every now and then, its only in the front of the cab anyways and cut down a bit. Next i'll try some of that Meguierers stuff i guess.

Why wash it? It just gets dirty again.

What is the best way to clean the tires and make them looking very nice? I only uses armor-all and I really did not know that it weakens the rubber.

C'mon guys these are jeeps we are talkin about, let mother nature clean them, hell im gettin a free car wash as we speak lol. I just use dish soap and a hose and sponge, hose out the interior (herculined, awsome mod, couldn't be happier with it looks good too) and then like once a year it will get some wax just maybe if im feelin good. ohh and on the rims i use this stuff from home depot called Noxon works awsome but requires a good amount of elbow grease but yeah its good for polished aluminum.

I never clean my tires. I just get into the rims with brush. Armor All des not weaken the rubber, it just makes it cut with ease, by providing a lube for cutting.

Why wash it? They use mag cloride on the roads in Colo. Mag cloride makes salt look like childs play.

I wash my jeep BEFORE a wheelin trip. I don't want Rubicon dirt mixed with Shasta dirt...so on... I don't wash it after because the dirt is what makes it look good. My brother and I were going to Wal Mart a couple weeks ago when we were at a stop light next to a couple of harleys, my brother said "damn, you know you got a bad ass rig when it's hella dirty and guys on harleys are still checkin it out!"

why clean the outside? unless yer gonna get a new paint job. my inside i have to vacuume out, rugs dont come out (its an XJ). besides i have leather seats. for the rims try a product called "greased lightnin" any decent auto store/shop should cary it (i swear by it). not to mention it works great to degrease the engine too. speakin of paint... gonna be doin mine in black spray paint & purple (or pink) trim (hey i what can i say? it's HER jeep!!!). i'm just the one gonna be hittin the trails in it with her as the passenger first. when she's more comfortable wheelin it im sure she gonna kick me outta the drivers seat, she drives it on the streets, but cant wait to get it in the mud so it'll look more like a REAL JEEP.

Gunk Foamy Spray the engine everytime at the car wash with a high pressure hose. Gunk the under belly too, the stuff works wonders, and its only like $2 or $3 a can. Just make sure to cover the Distributor and Battery, and your engine will soon be show-room quality

Here's a tip. At my local tractor supply store, they sell WD-40 in gallon containers with a spray bottle. I have been spraying the underside of the Jeep periodically now for a while. After a wheeling trip, spray it off, the mud and everything doesn't stick, it falls right off, and everything looks new again.

When I get sick of seeing grass hanging down from my control arms I climb under there with a flathead screwdriver and full facemask and knock the clumps of mud and swamp grass out from the little nooks and crannies. Can't wait for the body lift so it's easier to get to some of it.

Gives me time out of the house when I don't have anything to work on. Now that the MML is here and the OBA is completed, that's the next project.

That's about it.
