Default supercharger on a 4 cyl.

I'm toying with the idea of either a 4.0L swap or a supercharger for my 2.5L. What do you guys think about either one? Or which one do you think would be better in the long run. The only Supercharger I've found for my engine is: http://www.avengersuperchargers.com/index.htm I like the supercharger Idea because I think it would be easier to do. I entertain the 6cyl. idea because I want a jeep engine under the hood (Keep it jeep! Toledo loves its Jeep) and I think it has more H.P. and would be safer/better on the rest of the driveline components (not sure?) Any ideas, criticisms would be appreciated. thanks, marty

No real reason that I can say don't go with a supercharger other than I don't care for them. Go with a stroked 4.0 or since you will be doing all the engine mount fab work and swapping tranny/tcase anyway go with an AMC 401/TH400/Flipped D300 out of a CJ to keep it jeep.

I kinda like the idea, true outside the box thinking. Better power with less weight, I have toyed around with this idea some myself for use in a buggy. The trend in rock crawling are buggies that weigh in at around 2200 LBS, with 4 bangers. If I remember I will post soem pics of the new Spidertrax buggy that weighs 2217 with 37" tires and beadlocks

I'm working on getting a 4.0L for a swap I wanna do, and looked into getting it stroked, and then realized that it ain't gonna happen unless I've got at least an additional 1.5k. But if you got the extra dough, it would be a great time to do it.

I got the 2.5 and was curious about that also. Only problem I see is when that thing goes, you cant just go down to autozone and get a replacement part for it. But I love having a 4 cylinder, makes everything more challenging, even though it takes longer to get to the challenge.

I wonder how much the supercharger would affect the gas mileage. When I bought my Jeep (I didnt know anything about Jeeps except that they looked fun) I wanted the 4 cylinder so I can get the gas mileage then I realized my 4 cylinder Jeep gets the same MPG as my wifes 5.7L Tahoe with the useless 4wd (its got the push button 4wd and that thing has never seemed to work right)

i am either going to regear and keep the 4 banger and use the extra money for a klune
or swap in a 350/auto and keep the same gearing. not really sure which would be better both would cost the same.

if you havent' regeared and put on larger tires do that to get your engine back operating in the proper power band before putting any money into engine performance parts.

A somewhat cheaper way of doing this is going on ebay and searching for a paxton. They can be had for around 500-1000. Then with a little Fab. work you can have a Supercharger. They're a tad bigger than the current units being sold but hey its cheaper.
